Mandeville chapter of environmental group launched
The Jamaica Institute of Environmental Professionals (JIEP) has extended its islandwide reach with the establishment of its first 'Regional Focal Point' in Mandeville. The JIEP, a professional association formed in 2002 for qualified persons working in the environmental field, includes among its membership natural scientists, engineers, consultants, social scientists, lawyers, educators and economists.

The Education Transformation team hopes to complete regional consultations on the National School Board Association (NSBA) soon for the body to be launched by the end of May.

Armed Jamaican robbers sentenced in Britain

Two Jamaicans, who were involved in an armed attempted robbery which resulted in the murder of a man, were given 30 and 35 year prison sentences in Britain this week. The judge further recommended that the two be deported after completion of their sentences.

Accused husband killer denied bail

A woman accused of plotting to murder her husband will return to court here in Jamaica on April 17 after she was denied bail on Thursday. Police last week charged Lisa Anderson Nelson, 31, with illegal possession of a firearm, conspiracy to murder, and murder.

Decision soon on PNP candidate for Central Manchester

Following a review of the Central Manchester constituency, the executive of the People's National Party (PNP) is by next week to indicate who will run on the party's ticket in the upcoming general elections.
