published: Saturday | April 7, 2007

Robert Bailey, Freelance Reporter

Kingston College thrashed Pembroke Hall 41-14 to reach the semi-finals of the Sydney Coleman Under-16 Rugby competition at the G.C. Foster College on Thursday.

Both teams were almost evenly matched at the end of the first period, with KC leading 20-14 at half-time.

However, the North Street-based school dominated the second period and outscored their opponents 21-0 in the second half and romped to an emphatic victory.

Andrew Simpson led the way for KC by scoring three tries. He got good support from Michael Gray and Dean Russell with three tries each and Ramone Fearon's three conversions.

Jason Clarke was the leading scorer for Pembroke Hall with two tries and he received good support from Kevon Scarlett, who finished with two conversions.

Kingston College will face Greater Portmore in one semi-final, while defending champions Norman Manley will oppose Calabar in the other semi-final. Both games will be played on Thursday, April 17.
