Delightful art satire
AFTER SIX years, Melisande Potter once again colours the north coast with her humour. Over 30 of her pieces are this month's pick of good art offered at the Harmony Hall mecca.

An old man sat in a cracked leather armchair on an elevated porch cradling a porcelain cup in veined hands. On a side table, the water crackers topped with thin slices of butter arranged around the periphery of a matching saucer hardly seemed the handiwork of those hands.

Three weeks into their relationship, Gordon invited Keisha to spend the Easter weekend with him at his home in St. Ann. The drive down was comfortable, and Gordon was good company: Keisha blushed at the look of pleasure on his face when he saw her. The weekend turned into a week. Gordon was a good host and seemed proud to be with her.

Yesterday, I found a picture of my grandfather, black and white, published in a newspaper article, and carefully preserved for some 20 years. It must have been taken decades earlier, perhaps in the 1930s. A handsome man, wearing a suit, his wavy hair carefully in place.
