Tortello launches 'Pieces of the Past' collection
Since June 2001, Dr. Rebecca Tortello-Greenland has been providing an eye into Jamaica's rich history, through her series 'Pieces of the Past', published monthly in The Gleaner newspaper. She compiled those articles published from 2001 to 2005, to form a book of the same name, Pieces of the Past, which was launched on Sunday April 1, in Queensway.

Nine vie for Miss Kingston and St Andrew Festival Queen title

Nine intelligent young women will vie for the tiara that goes to the Miss Kingston and St. Andrew Festival Queen. The women were sashed and presented to an audience on Sunday, April 1. There was no fooling here, these contestants are for real. Confidence, brilliant smiles and attitude in abundance.

Easter parties set to sizzle

My daahlings, it's the only talk from Port Antonio, through Kingston, on to Montego Bay, Negril through Mandeville and back into the inner sanctums of the ranks of upper 'Saan' Andrew. Those of you in the know would have read here first - on these pages about the multimillion-dollar 40th birthday celebration that was being thrown by the Icelandic multibillionaire in Port Antonio last weekend.

Focus on fathers for Children's Expo 2007

Children were the topic of the day at the launch of Children's Expo '07 on Tuesday. The annual expo is the major fund-raising event for The Jamaica Foundation for Children,an organisation responsible for distributing contributions to the various child care agencies.
