Teen badly in need of heart surgery
published: Monday | April 9, 2007

Chrys-Ann Graham

Rasbert Turner, Gleaner Writer

SPANISH TOWN, St. Catherine:

Young Chrys-Ann Graham, a student of Innswood High School, is one unhappy child due to an acute heart condition.

The 14-year-old, who said she wants to become a doctor, has been suffering from a defective heart valve. Her condition has caused her family great distress.

"We need almost $200,000 for her to go to the University Hospital to do the operation and we don't have it. So we need help," remarked her grandmother, Gloria Bennett.

Mrs. Bennett said it was heart-rending to see the once stoutly built Chrys-Ann reduced to a little over 100 pounds, which she says the doctor attributes to her heart condition.

According to Chrys-Ann, she often feels pain in her stomach and regularly has fainting spells when she does even the slightest bit of work, or walks around on the school compound.

Her grandmother said it was urgent that her child receive assistance or she could die very soon.
