Partisan politics and investments
published: Thursday | April 12, 2007

The Editor, Sir:

I consider Mr. Lambert Brown's contribution very pragmatic and enlightening on this subject, 'Development and jobs'. Too often Jamaicans tend to look at any form of development in Jamaica negatively and suspiciously, without looking at the long-term ramifications. This, of course, is predicated by partisan politics most times.

His assessment of the Rollins investment is very enlightening, and the naysayers do owe Mr. Patterson an apology. This kind of negative self-criticism is now becoming like an epidemic right across Jamaica, and can only harm the future of the country.

It his high time the politicians begin to accept the fact that some things, while not done by their immediate party, are actually good for the country, instead of tearing down everything in the name of partisan politics. In other words, call a spade a spade.

I am, etc.,
