Lamy and CARICOM ministers to meet today

A meeting with the director general of the World Trade Organisation (WTO), Pascal Lamy, and Caribbean Community (CARICOM) trade ministers, gets under way this morning at the Jamaica Pegasus hotel, Kingston.

Mr. Lamy, who arrived in the island late last night, is also scheduled for a breakfast meeting with the Jamaica Chamber of Commerce at 7:30 this morning.

Courtesy call

Later at 9:00 he is expected to meet with CARICOM trade ministers. After the meeting he will pay a courtesy call on Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller. He will depart for Washington, D.C. in the afternoon.

Mr. Lamy is primarily here to meet with CARICOM trade ministers to update them on the status of the Doha Round of WTO talks. He is also expected to hear the concerns of the region as it relates to the Doha Round.
