Bring back Yam Fest
published: Saturday | April 14, 2007

The Editor, Sir:

I'm writing on behalf of the people of Albert Town, Trelawny. I don't think it is fair to us that they moved the Yam Festival from Albert Town to Hague. It was such a good thing for us and our surroundings since we are forgotten in our little closet and nobody knows about us.

Albert Town, or Upper Trelawny as it is called, is where all the yams grow and we started out with our little thing to enjoy ourselves and so that the farmers could make back something for themselves. Now when the festival starts to bring in something for the people of Upper Trelawny, everybody wants to jump on the bandwagon.

So instead of the people from southern Trelawny getting the praise, it goes to someone else. It's not fair. It shouldn't even be considered. And how many people from southern Trelawny can make it to Hague? It's not fair, it's upsetting.

I am, etc.,
