Tym Glaser WELL, WE should all be ashamed of ourselves.
That's right, me and my buddies in the media, former Windies players and you, the constantly whining West Indian fans, who have simply put too much pressure on the gallant guys in maroon by having the temerity to criticise them during the World Cup.
Shame, shame, shame on us.
And it must be our fault because WICB (Woefully Inadequate Cricket Bureaucrats) president Ken Gordon says so.
He's a president of sumpin' and I'm the president of nuttin', so it must really, truly be a fact.
Now, some bad-minded people may say he's only the president of janitors because he's great at sweeping things under the carpet (remember the Lucky Report), but that's just more of that meanness for you and there's simply no place for it, I tell ya.
Nope, even though the horse has bolted and the Windies are for all intents and purposes Cup nonentities, I am going to turn over a new leaf and write nothing but good things about our tremendous ambassadors of the game.
Sure it's tempting to flagellate Brian and his boys for what some may say (but not me) is one of the most lame performances ever from a Cup host, aided and abetted by selection by roulette wheel and players who care more about that night's party destination than the annoying preceding game.
The positives
But I'm putting away my poison pen and I am just going to look at the positives. There will be no dwelling on things like Chris Gayle's statue-like footwork, Marlon Samuels' statue-like thought processes at the crease or Ram Sarwan's ability to make runs when they don't count in a position in the order that he is ill-suited to.
Nope, won't touch on that.
Lara's unfathomable fielding and bowling decisions and the form of non-batting and non-bowling all-rounders Dwaynes Bravo and Smith? I simply refuse to go there.
Who really runs this West India team - the Prince, the King or the Big Cat? Well, that's a question best saved for another day - or year, perhaps. Our boys sure don't need that kind of distraction right now.
How are we going to remedy all that is patently wrong with the game in the Caribbean and has been so for a couple of decades now? Well, that can definitely go on the back burner because if it can wait this long, another decade or two won't hurt.
You're only to get real positive vibes about the Windies here and if you don't like it, all you are doing is continuing to bring our valiant representatives down.
Let's look at the positives and rally 'round the West Indies.
Now, let's see. Good things ... ummm ... positives ... sheesh ... happy thoughts.
Oh, I got one, I got one - nice shades, Chris.
