Meanwhile, there have been no reported Jamaican victims in the university shooting.Speaking with The Gleaner last night, Jamaican students pursuing post-graduate degrees on the campus, Andre Crawford and Kerri-Ann Burrell, said a quick check on an email before heading for classes made them aware of the situation on campus.
So far, they have not been told of any Jamaican casualties or injuries.
"A lot of people have been sending emails saying that they are ok," Crawford told The Gleaner last night.
The Jamaican population is estimated at between 10 and 15 persons, Burrell added, most of whom are believed to be graduate students.
It is also believed that most lived in halls of residence on the university campus.
May have been injured
Although one of the shooting incidents took place on one hall of residence, Crawford said the hall was one for mainly undergraduates and so no Jamaicans might have been hurt.
However, he said there might be a possibility that Jamaicans may have been injured in the second shooting which occurred in a classroom but, up to last night, there had been no reports to support this.
