The sea is greater than the land - Opportunities in the maritime sector far exceed those on land

Shipping alone represents the most efficient means of goods transportation. It is the least risky means of moving merchandise and people. Total value of global merchandise export now exceeds US$10 trillion mark and is projected to grow exponentially .

In response to the market, the Caribbean Maritime Institute (CMI) is pleased to announce the launching, come September 2007, of five Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree programmes as listed hereunder:

  • Logistics and supply chain management
  • Cruise shipping and tourism management
  • Port management
  • International shipping
  • Industrial systems, operations and maintenance.
  • Applications for enrolment into these programmes will be received at the CMI between April and June 30, 2007. Spaces are limited and will be filled on a first come-first serve basis for those with the requisite qualifications.

    Note: Applicants to the programme are eligible for financial support under the Students' Loan Bureau (SLB) programme.

    Admission requirements

    1. Graduates of CMI with diploma in international shipping and logistics (DISL).

    2. Graduates of CMI with associate degree in industrial systems, operations and maintenance.

    3. Graduates of accredited tertiary institutions with equivalent qualifications.

    4. High school graduates with a minimum of five CXC subjects inclusive of mathematics and English at no less than grade III passes.

    5. Mature candidates with no less than three years' work experience in the shipping, logistics and supply chain management sectors.
