Facey runs fastest 200m for 2007

World Junior 100m silver medallist Simone Facey and MVP's women shone brightly while participating at track and field meetings across the United States on the weekend.

At the Miami Elite Invitational in Florida, Facey and Clora Williams were winners, while Chris Williams, Melaine Walker and MVP's women's sprint relay team secured victories at the Mount Sac Relays in California.

Facey, representing Texas A&M, ran a world leading 22.77 seconds to win the women's 200m ahead of World 100m champion Lauryn Williams (23.02) and Commonwealth Games 100m champion Sherri-Ann Brooks (23.42).

Brooks was second in the 100m in 11.19, beaten by Bahamian Debbie Ferguson-McKenzie (11.14).

Clora Williams of Texas A&M took the 400m in 52.67, whil Chambers (2:12.12) was fourth in the women's 800m.

Andrea Bliss (13.19) was second in the women's 100m hurdles, beaten by American Damu Cherry (12.89). Trecia Henry of Texas was fourth in 13.56.

Impressive run

At Mount Sac, Chris Williams won the men's 100m in 10.12 seconds ahead of Wallace Spearmon (10.14). Sherikca Williams (11.36) was sixth in the women's event won by Carmelita Jeter of South Bay TC (11.16).

The MVP women's sprint relay quartet of Geraldine Pillay, Sherone Simpson, Shericka Williams and Brigitte Foster-Hylton stopped the clock in an impressive 43.25 to win ahead of USA Red (43.48) and USA Blue 43.59).

The MVP men's team of Andre Wellington, Michael Frater, Ainsley Waugh and Darrell Brown finished third in 39.11, behind Arkansas Alums (38.20) and USA Red (39.04).

MVP also won the women's mile relay in 3:30.58 seconds.

Walker ran 55.99 for victory in the women's 400m hurdles to beat Shauna Smith of Nike (56.55) and Olympic 100m hurdles champion Joanna Hayes (56.56). Shevon Stoddart ran 57.45 for fifth.

Dwayne Jarrett won the men's 400m in 46.82, while Sekou Clarke (47.62) was sixth.

In the 200m event, Marvin Anderson (20.66) and Steve Mullings (20.83) were third and fourth respectively. Mike Mitchell of South Bay won the event in 20.33.

Mullings was second in the university 100m in 10.39 seconds, beaten by Mickey Grimes of World Express (10.37).
