Gobay gets 15 days for Whilelmina ride

Jockey Wilbert Gobay, who rode WHILEL-MINA in the seventh race on Easter Monday, was suspended for 15 racedays by the Stewards for his failure to ride the horse on its merit in accordance with Rule 200 of the Rules of Racing.

Gobay, whose suspension takes effect on Wednesday, April 25, was also fined $10,000.

WHILELMINA finished sixth of 14 in the maiden three-year-old race won by I'M D'MAC.

Jockey Patrick Henry, Jr., who rode CRIMSON GUIDE in the eighth race on Saturday, April 7, was slapped with a five-day suspension and $3,000 fine for careless riding shortly after the start, causing interference to ASKAWOMAN, TRUE SENSATION, WILD GLITZ, MELINDAGATA and the eventual winner, QUEEN OF MY HEART.

Leo Miller picked up two racedays for careless riding aboard disqualified winner, FROMRUSSIAWITHLOVE, in the 11th race on April 7, causing interference up the lane to the runner-up SHOWDOWN, who was subsequently awarded first place.

Jockey Allen Maragh was also suspended for two racedays for careless riding aboard THE BEST MAN in the first race on Easter Monday.

Apprentice Omar Walker picked up one raceday for careless riding aboard STREET FIGHTER in the second race on March 31, causing interference to EL PEQUENO early in the straight, while jockey Richard Mitchell, who rode TOOT DI HOOT in the 2000 Guineas on April 7, was severely cautioned by the stewards for causing interference to BLUE MAGIC on entering the straight.
