Reno keep Carib club champs hopes alive
published: Tuesday | April 17, 2007

Richard Bryan, Freelance Writer

Reno remained unbeaten at St. Elizabeth Technical High School (STETHS) with a 3-1 win over Boys' Town last Sunday to keep them in the hunt for important season-ending ambitions.

The win capped a memorable one for all three Reno strikers - Martin Williams, Recardo Scott and Kirk Wright - as it was the first occasion that trio had scored in the same match. Williams (38th) and Scott (42nd) benefitted from deflected balls from miskicks within the Boys' Town defence, but Wright, who came as a substitute, finished off a well executed attacking team play in the 81st minute.

The goal could not have come at a better time, since Boys' Town had clawed back into the game 10 minutes earlier through Michael Campbell's 62nd minute goal and subsequently, Reno's tradegy of having their national player Nicoloy Findlayson sent off less than five minutes after entering the game.

The win which carried Reno to 52 points, now provides a platform for them to travel with confidence to play Seba in Montego Bay tomorrow. Having lost all their away encounters this round, Downswell told The Gleaner that Seba's scalp is crucial to their final season ambitions.

"Even if we concede at this stage that Harbour View is probably out of reach, we want to play in the Caribbean Club Championship, and the goal is to secure the maximum from our last four games," explained Downswell.

The latest loss for Boys' Town pegged them in ninth position on 33 points ahead of Seba, and the cellar dwellers Wadadah and Naggo Head.

Reno 3

Martin Williams 38th,

Recardo Scott 42nd, Kirk Wright 81st

Boys' Town 1

Michael Campbell 62nd
