BOYS' TOWN defeated neighbours Arnett Gardens 3-1 in their Wray and Nephew National Premier League game at Collie Smith Drive yesterday.
Goals by Michael Campbell in the 10th minute, Shawn McKoy in the 21st and an own goal by Wayne Ellis in the 82nd, led Boys' Town to a series win over Arnett Gardens.
In February, the Red Brigade travelled up the road to clip Arnett Gardens 1-0 after playing to a 1-1 draw in November.
Campbell was credited with a goal after his goal-bound shot took a deflection off his teammate McKoy and snuck past goalkeeper Moshell Nelson.
The diminutive McKoy then doubled the home team's advantage, heading in a Troy Dawes left-sided cross before a former Boys' Town player, Jermaine Bailey, reduced the deficit with the best goal of the game.
Bailey, who started the season at Boys' Town before moving up the road to Arnett, spectacularly volleyed home a 25-metre shot that flew past goalkeeper Philmore Crumbie before he realised what had happened.
The player, who was jeered by the home fans throughout, brought a hush to the ground but it lasted only for a few seconds.
Two-goal cushion
Immediately from the kick-off, Arnett defender Wayne Ellis saw his headed back pass sail out of the reach of Nelson to restore the home team's two-goal cushion.
Boys' Town, with their eighth win of the season, leapfrogged Arnett Gardens into eighth position on 36 points. Arnett Gardens suffered their 15th loss of the season to remain on 35 points and in ninth position.
Winning coach Andrew Price said he was happy for the points but scolded his team for not dismissing Arnett Gardens from the first half.
"We played an Arnett team that didn't put up a lot of resistance today and we had the opportunities and didn't put them away," Price said.
Meanwhile, Arnett's coach, Glendon 'Admiral' Bailey, was once again a frustrated man.
"It was a very poor game, we just didn't show up to play today," Bailey said.
