The Mizchif Family Fun Day and stage show was launched on Wednesday evening at the Jamaica Pegasus hotel, New Kingston. And based on the turnout and pledged support, the event promises to be a success.

The concert boasts an impressive line-up of reggae and dancehall artistes, including Bounty Killer, Freddy McGregor, George Nooks, Vybz Kartel, Turbulence, Aidonia, Wayne Marshall, Macka Diamond and Ninja Man. And, according to the concert's promoter, deejay Wickerman, "there are artistes, not yet on the poster, who also promise to be there".

'Mizchif' will be staged on April 28 at the Jamalco Sports Club, Halse Hall, Clarendon, and part proceeds will be donated to a primary school in Clarendon, which will be adopted by the Mizchif family for the year.

No Beenie Man

Wickerman said "right now, 'Mizchif' a bran' new show to di people dem" as he introduced his fellow promoters, "Dadda Mizchif and Tommy Mizchif".

"The three of us are the promoters an me now name Wickamizchif. We a donate $200,000 to a primary school in Clarendon and wi a guh donate other things like computa an' all dem ting deh. Suh, this show will be helpful to nuff a di youts dem inna di community," Wickerman said.

Wickerman also said "big respect to di artiste dem weh give dem support", but highlighted that Beenie Man, who was originally advertised for the show, would no longer be on it. Without giving much details Wickerman said, "wi have a situation wid Beenie Man, because wi did done print di flyer dem wid him but he will not be a part of 'Mizchif' this year".

The event, which is being produced by Topline Entertainment, will be a day and night event for the young and old, and will kick off with a six-a-side football competition among selected teams from Kingston, Clarendon and Man-chester. There will also be a celebrity match between members of the Reggae Boyz and membersof the music fraternity.

Games and rides

There will also be an array of games and rides for the children and a mini-show during the day, featuring Alley Cat, To-Isis, Jah Selah and others, with the major stage show starting at 8:30 p.m.

Some of the artistes billed for the concert performed briefly at the launch, such as Teflon, Captain Barkey and Wickerman, LUST, Nitty Kutchie and others.
