Cockpit tourism
published: Sunday | April 22, 2007

The Editor, Sir:

An area as important, beautiful and distinct as the Cockpit Country in Jamaica should not be mined. More thought and research need to go into this project before it is implemented and I hope the powers that be will desist from doing so.

The best thing to probably do is to set up a tourist attraction inthe Cockpit Country. Put in restaurants, rest stops, jitneys (tractor or horse-drawn buggies), tour guides to explain the importance of the area and implications of destroying it, among other things. This venture would provide another means of sustainable development for our country.

I am, etc.,
