WORCESTER, England (CMC):DURHAM, WITH West Indians Ottis Gibson and Gareth Breese in their side, coasted to a huge win over home team Worcestershire in their English County Championship Division One match yesterday.
Set 539 to win, Worcestershire fell for 297 all out and lost by 241 runs after pacers Steve Harmison and Callum Thorp combined for eight wickets at Worcester's County Ground, New Road.
Phil Jacques (97), Vikram Solanki (67), and Gareth Batty (47) were the only significant scorers in Worcestershire's second innings score.
Test pacer Harmison produced telling figures of five for 63 off 24 overs, while Thorp bagged three for 51 off 12.4 overs.
Durham had secured a 122-run first innings lead when Australian Mike Di Venuto scored a magnificent 155 not out in their score of 313 all out, and Worcestershire replied with 191 all out.
Snaring three for 37 off 13 overs with threemaidens, Gibson was the top bowler for Durham, who got 416 all out in their second innings.
Captain Dale Benkenstein (103 not out), Di Venuto (83) and Breese (53) led the Durham second innings scoring and their bowlers came back on yesterday's fourth and final day to wrap up the match.
