Influence of video games
published: Tuesday | April 24, 2007

The Editor, Sir:

In regard to Mr. Martin Henry's "We have lost our children," I am not going to disagree with the fact us kids in America would have a better shot than you adults and that the video games do condone this type of behaviour. However, he is being quite unreasonable when putting all of us in one special group.

The friends I play with, the people I discuss the game with, would not (1) have the resource to geta gun, (2) pull off a mass shooting, simply because what you think and what you do are two different things. Whatever you fantasise or think may never ever be carried out, so to say that these violent games are partly the cause is partly correct.

On the other hand, I find it funny that he didn't mention bullies, television and movies. The only way in today's society to block violence from a child would be to lock him/her in a wall of ignorance from the outside world.

I am, etc.,
