Arnett hope to end season on a high

Coach of Arnett Gardens Football Club, Glendon 'Admiral' Bailey, said that he wants his team to win their last two games in the Wray and Nephew National Premier League (NPL) season, following their come-from-behind 3-2 triumph over Seba United at the Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex on Sunday.

"It was three points that was well needed, all we ask from (the players) is a sense of pride and purpose," Bailey said after the match.

He noted that his team showed a lot of character being a goal down twice and came back to snatch a victory at the death.

He continued: "Our objective is to win our two remaining games to better our position (in the league)."

This has been a difficult season for the former champions, through team transition and the much-publicised violence in the community where many of the players live.

However, Junglist striker Kwame Richardson lifted the spirits of the home team fans after he scored a hat-trick of goals, including the winning strike on the stroke of full time. Ricardo Geddes netted Seba's two goals.

The win moved Arnett Gardens to 38 points, while Seba remained on 30.

However, coach of Seba United, Danilo Barriga, was singing a different tune as he blamed poor officiating for his team's demise.

"We had a lot of problems with the refereeing, the players played excellent, but the referee was not doing a good job," Barriga lamented. "My team controlled the midfield and we made some good attacks but we were let down by the referee."

Barriga said that he is satisfied with the work he has done since coming to Seba United in January this year, taking them out of the relegation zone, from 11th with 13 points, to 10th and currently 30 points.

He, too, is optimistic of ending the season with a bang. But it will not be easy playing against the tricky Tivoli Gardens, and finishing the season against second-placed club Portmore United.

Kwame Richardson 9th, 77th, 91st
