MOVIE TITLE: Leroy and Stitch
WHO'S IN IT: Stitch, his evil look-alike Leroy (many, many Leroys), Lilo, an evil genius of a hamster and his sometimes clod of a hammering gofer.
RATING:(Poor)
RUNNING TIME: 72 minutes
WHAT IT'S ABOUT: Based on the television series, Lilo and Stitch, the 'island girl' Lilo gets replaced in the headline billing of the futuristic fight-all-'em-evil flick people by Leroy, a number whahoosey in a line of critters with big ears, wider mouth than Mick Jagger and more teeth than Don King.
But Leroy and Stitch are not hero and sidekick they are exactly alike save for colour (Stitch is blue, Leroy is red).
In fact, Leroy was created by the unwilling evil genius, coming out of retirement under threat from a huge goon who is under the thumb of the evil hamster (big front teeth and all).
Stitch has just been appointed head of the Galactic fleet, captain of his own ship and all, which puts him on direct collision course with Leroy.
The Leroys, actually, as the hamster, very pleased with the creation which defeats 626 (in the same line of ears, grin and teeth critters) in its first rough n' tumble, hops away on the clone button.
Of course, Lilo is in the tale, her 'Aloha' and all, which touches the heart of the huge goon.
Said goon is not touched at all by the evil hamster's bad goon employee relations, who snarls 'that was a rhetorical question' regularly and firing him as he was on his way to the prisoners to a cell. Bad timing.
After many a close call, many a fracas and many a blaster being fired, 'Aloha' wins the day when Lilo and Stitch rock it live to switch off the army of savage Leroys just as they are winning the climactic battle. In a stadium, too (told you there was some Jagger stuff going on). Yeah, the rhetorical questioning gets reversed.
LONG STORY SHORT: Lots of blasting, lots of fighting, another thwarted animated evil plan to take over the world.
THE REEL LOWDOWN: Leroy and Stitch is too violent for young children, yet its characters are too kiddy for adults.
The fights are worthy of Spidey and Doc, yet the characters tend towards the kiddy side, with a bit more juice than Bugs Bunny. It's a bit like Fred Flintstone meets a Japanese action animation, which is not good for children.
BONUS FEATURES: Bonus Episode (first time showing of a Lilo and Stitch television series); games and activities (Big Red battleship Flight Simulator Game).
