Sweet-things, the political party season is definitely getting underway and then some! It usedto be that the start of this season was heralded by the Opposition spokesman on Finance's budget delivery, and his after-budget reception, but this year, with an election in the offing it's all about the party leaders. So the two hot tickets are the Opposition Leader's post budget reception, (hosted last evening in salubrious Cherry Gardens) and that of the Prime Minister, to be hosted next Tuesday.
More anon, as this is definitely the season to go a-partying!
And speaking of politicians, today my dears, is the first anniversary of the 60th birthday of the fabulous one-time political firebrand, music executive, PR doyenne and Opposition MP Babsy Grange.
No plans for any big celebrations this year, but there will be many as friends and associates of the political dynamo are all set to make it happen with a number of intimate events, restricted to immediate family and nothing but close friends.
Worth the wait

Luvs, it promises to be a blast, so wait for it!
On Tuesday, however, it was all about the "real-big-man" of night-time entertainment as Ribbie Chung celebrated his birthday. And here, the place to be was his Christopher's Jazz Caf in The Quad complex in New Kingston. With a host of friends and well-wishers on hand to keep the vibes flowing, it was fab all the way!
Then the word is that HE German Ambassador Volker Schlegel is all set to depart our shores in the next couple of months as his tour of duty comes to its official end.
Also slated to leave soon is HE Ambassador Francis Hurtut, the French Ambassador to Kingston, as the word is his tour of duty is all set to come to an end round about year end!
But not so for Head of the European Union Delegation, here, HE Ambassador Marco Mazzocchi-Alemanni, as he is all set to spruce up the official residence, the decorators have been called in. He is busy making the rounds as he acquaints himself with the people and officialdom, in his quest to make the European Delegation more responsive to the needs of the countries for which he holds diplomatic responsibilities.
Now, the new look being given to the official residence will not be quite complete for this year's annual European Union Day reception, but this being the premier social event on the EU delegation's calendar, the residence will still be the venue.
And speaking of things diplomatic - on Monday evening the British High Commissioner His Excellency Jeremy Cresswell and his fabulous companion, Dr. Barbara Munske, hosted a cocktail reception at their official residence, Trafalgar House, on Trafalgar Road, in New Kingston, in honour of visiting British MP and government minister, the Right Honourable Richard Caborn, Minister of Sports, Development for Culture, Media and Sports. A number of government and opposition officials plus socialites were out and in full social regalia.
Doves, the buzz is, it was one fine outing and then some, with High Commissioner Cresswell and Dr. Barbara Munske proving faultless hosts. But no surprises here as since their arrival, they have proven able successors to their predecessors, and have been simply fabulous in the discharge of their duties and in their entertaining!
Kudos here
And so, well-deserved kudos here! And speaking of annual fabulous to-doos, my dears, the American Friends of Jamaica, South Florida's Peacock ball and gala to be hosted on May 19, promises to be one smasheroni. No surprises that fab-society and the chic are all set to jet over to Florida for the weekend . And with Montego Bay-based businessman and social denizen being one of the honorees with the Food For The Poor organisation being the other, it promises to be all that and then some!
The weekend of the 19th is filled with fab outings, charitable and all as onthe 17th, it will be all about the charming Morgan's Harbour Hotel where the National Gallery of Jamaica, will be hosting its annual fund-raising dinner and dance.
My daahlings, now y'all know that this is one fabulously worthy cause, and with a slew of the nation's finest artists, leading collectors, and patrons slated to be in attendance, y'all know we are talking one fine outing in the making here.
Pumpkins, it promises to be a fab-fest and then some!
And darling dears, people are still raving about Biggy Unleashed, the ultra-mod and urban contemporary fashion collection that was premiered put on by Turner whose designs have long been celebrated and the toast of the dancehall.
Well my dears, with his creations getting rave reviews, as well as being the preferred fashion for the bling lover, Turner turned it up a few notches, and last Sunday, in his premiere solo outing not only dazzled, but absolutely cemented his status. Street-wear has been transformed to high-end couture.
Sweet-things, talk about coming of age! Well, y'all can expect to see Biggy's style and pattern gracing the hot celebs of the music and film industry worldwide, so continue watching these pages for the development!
