Tivoli whip Naggo Head
published: Monday | April 30, 2007

Rasbert Turner, Gleaner Writer

Spanish Town:

A hat-trick by Navion Boyd carried Tivoli Gardens to a 5-1 victory over relegated Naggo Head in their Wray and Nephew National Premier League match at the Edward Seaga Complex yesterday.

Boyd scored his goals in the 20th, 48th and 87th minutes of play. Other scorers for Tivoli were Sheldon Palmer in the 67th and Jameel Thompson in the 82nd. Naggo Head's consolation goal came from the boots of Christopher Allen in the 53rd minute.

The wily Boyd opened the scoring with a shot from 20 yards. After scoring his second in the 48th minute, he sealed the issue in the 87th minute with a vicious right foot kick past the Naggo Head goalkeeper. Naggo Head will now go back to playing Division One football next season.

Team to watch

The win carried the Tivoli Gardens team to 55 points for the season. According to coach Calvert Fitzgerald, Tivoli will be the team to watch in next year's competition.

"Come next year we will be a force to be reckoned with. We are thankful to Boyd for his hat-trick and the overall team effort as Naggo Head have given several top teams trouble in the latter part of the competition."
