Former kings of the jungle, Arnett Gardens, ended their season with a whimper following a 2-1 loss to Village United as the Wray and Nephew National Premier League came to a close at the Tony Spaulding Complex yesterday.
Former Arnett Gardens player Lacon Brissett banged in two goals for the Trelawny team. Brissett who seemed intent on proving a point to his former teammates, opened the scoring when he blasted a hard, low 55th free-kick past a nervous looking Arnett Gardens custodian Sheldon Smith from all of 35 yards away. Just one minute later the midfielder would further wound the ego of the keeper, this time firing to goal from 40 yards away.
Effort
Smith got to the effort but seemed to be baffled by the pace of the shot. Arnett Gardens who had the better of the first half play and should have been ahead on several occasions pulled a goal back from the spot, through Kierald McCleod who netted a 67th minute penalty.
"We had the better of the possession here today, we didn't score and that came back to haunt us." said Arnett coach Glendon Bailey.
"We haven't trained in about a month, however, this was the last game of the season so I told the guys to go out and enjoy it." he added.
