LETTER OF THE DAY - On the making of promises
The Editor, Sir: The Hon. Prime Minister may be deemed to have outdone the Opposition Leader in making promises and curiously has ridiculed the Opposition's promise of no school fees, even though former PM Patterson made and failed to keep that promise.

Some questions to answer

The Editor, Sir: The move taken by the Prime Minister to exempt children from health-fee charges in public hospitals is very impressive. Lowering the onset of diseases among our younger population will no doubt reduce the burden of our health-care system in the long run.

People must take responsibility

The Editor, Sir: Mr. Witter, the Public Defender, is absolutely correct in his statement regarding gays. I suppose those who are complaining would have them going to church and getting married like they are doing in other countries when the Bible says...

Casinos to spark growth

The Editor, Sir: Judging from the Budget Debate presentations both the Government and Opposition have fallen short of where the country should be headed. The country is in a perilous state and far-reaching, almost revolutionary solutions need to be found to erase...

Looking at the Golding proposals

The Editor, Sir: Contrary to what detractors say, the promise of Mr. Golding that his party, if and when elected, will finance secondary education and remove hospital fees can be fulfilled simply by the employment of the economic doctrine of opportunity costs...

The Editor, Sir:As a former Clerk of Court, I must say that the Ministry of Justice needs to look into the issues affecting the Clerks of Court, which will in turn affect how the system functions. It is seen by many who leave law school that the Resident Magistrate's Court....
