Time for George to 'man up'
published: Saturday | May 5, 2007

T.R. Knight

Dr. George O'Malley (Grey's Anatomy, ABC, May 17): Sweet and a little befuddled, George (T.R. Knight) has grown into an accomplished and confident doctor, but his personal life is spiraling out of control. True, he has had some hard knocks, like the recent death of his father. It's very troubling, though, that George reacted to the discovery of wife Callie's (Sara Ramirez) independent wealth by getting royally drunk, having sex with best friend Izzie (Katherine Heigl) and showing up at work the next day with a crippling hangover and aroma of alcohol. George needs several weeks of intensive therapy to get his act together before he wrecks his marriage and/or puts a patient at risk. It's time to 'man up', O'Malley. Seriously!

Seeking her independence

Andrea Bowen

Julie Mayer (Desperate Housewives, ABC): Surrounded by a sea of dysfunctionality on Wisteria Lane, teenage Julie (Andrea Bowen) has been an island of sanity and responsibility. Now that she is starting to discover boys and the attendant heartache that can involve, however, Julie probably should keep herself busy this summer with a job. She's smart and focused enough to succeed at almost anything, but Julie might try getting an entry-level clerical position in a law office. Not only will that look great on her college application, but she also might be able to score some free advice on how to become an emancipated minor - because her mom, sweet but self-absorbed screw-up Susan (Teri Hatcher) - probably isn't going to change anytime soon.
