Rifle found at Charlie Smith High
published: Saturday | May 5, 2007

An unusual military-type rifle was yesterday seized by members of the Special Anti-Crime Task Force at the Charlie Smith High School, which is located in the volatile community of Arnett Gardens, St. Andrew.

The police described the gun as another version of the self-loading rifle, formerly used by Jamaica Defence Force soldiers. The unusual rifle uses 7.62 ammunition.

Reports are that the weapon, along with 12 rounds of ammunition, was found near the perimeter wall of the school following an operation conducted by the police early yesterday morning.
