Cop shot in fight with gunmen
published: Saturday | May 5, 2007

A police constable stationed at the Mobile Reserve was shot and injured during a firefight with three gunmen who attempted to rob him of his motor vehicle at Ravinia Road, Kingston 6, Thursday night. One of the gunmen was fatally shot and a firearm seized, according to the Constabulary Communication Network (CCN).

The dead man, who is believed to be in his late 20s, is of dark complexion, slim build, about 175.26 centimetres and was clad in a brown sweat suit and a pair of brown and grey sneakers.

Ordered from his car

Reports from the CCN's metro officer are that about 9:50 p.m. Thursday, the constable was in his Toyota Corolla motor car on Ravinia Road when a dark-coloured car drove up with three men aboard. The men, who were all armed with guns, alighted from the vehicle, ordered the policeman from his car then opened fire, hitting him.

The constable returned the fire, hitting one of the men. The other two gunmen escaped. The injured men were taken to hospital where the unidentified man was pronounced dead and the policeman admitted in stable condition.
