A round-up of commodities prices for Tuesday quoted in US dollars:
COPPER: The most-active July copper contract rose 0.70 cent to settle at $3.7225 per pound.
OIL: June crude oil futures settled up 79 cents at $62.26 a barrel. June heating oil settled up 2.70 cents at $1.8299 a gallon. June gasolene futures settled up 1.49 cent at $2.2046 a gallon, after trading as high as $2.2075.
NATURAL GAS: June natural gas settled down 14.2 cents at $7.637 per million British thermal units.
COFFEE: On the New York Board of Trade, July Arabica coffee futures closed up 0.45 cent at $1.0525 a pound, with September up 0.45 cent at $1.0810.
COCOA: July cocoa settled up $17 at $1,890 a metric ton.
SUGAR: Futures on raw sugar in foreign ports for July settled down 0.10 cent at 9.22 cents a pound, with October off 0.09 cent at 9.52 cents.
CORN: On the Chicago Board of Trade, corn futures ended at sharply lower levels, pressured by better-than-expected planting progress. May corn settled 15.75 cents lower to $3.53.75 per bushel, July ended down 15.50 cents $3.63.50, and December fell 16.75 cents to $3.66.50.
SOYBEANS: July soybeans closed down 3 cents at $7.39.50 per bushel, while November soybeans ended 3.50 cents lower at $7.68.75.
WHEAT: July wheat closed down 13 cents at $4.81 per bushel.
