Applying crime remedies
published: Monday | May 14, 2007

The Editor, Sir:

Many persons have presented 'laundry lists' of dos, donts, suggestions, and recommendations to stem the rising crime in Jamaica. These are much appreciated.

Having been saturated with the diagnoses and prescriptions, someone has to be responsible for purchasing and administering the medication. The physicians who took the time to diagnose the social ills and identify the relevant prescriptions should consider, and assume the responsibility for implementating strategies of any magnitude.

The patients must be appropriately identified without prejudice, the medication administered, and the consequences of non-compliance properly executed. Such efforts should be highly commended and made visible in the media. Certainly, this would keep hope alive.

I am, etc.,
