The trial of the woman and two men charged jointly with the murder of former president of the Jamaica Gasolene Retailers Association (JGRA), 62-year-old Lloyd G. Brown, and his 49-year-old fiance, Sandra Campbell, has been set for June 25.

The case was set for trial Monday in the Home Circuit Court but defence lawyers complained that they were served with documents last Thursday and Friday.

Defence lawyers Ravil Golding, Dr. Randolph Williams and Ian Wilkinson said the documents numbered 111 pages and they needed time to analyse them and get instructions from their clients.

After the prosecutors agreed that the documents were served late, Mrs. Justice Carol Beswick granted an adjournment.

Household helper

The accused are household helper Sandra Watt, who was employed to the deceased Campbell; Kingston labourer Donald Whyte; and 39-year-old Peter Dougal, of Santoy district, Hanover.

Brown and Campbell were shot dead at Campbell's home at Stillwell Road, Stony Hill, St. Andrew, at about 4:00 a.m. on June 6, 2004.

It is being alleged that, on the very day that Brown and Campbell were shot dead, the police went to premises at Vineyard Town where a group of men allegedly engaged them in a shoot-out.

The Crown is alleging that, during the incident, Dougal was shot and injured and two firearms recovered. Dougal was allegedly found in possession of Brown's photograph.

Forensic tests done on the guns proved that one of them was used to murder Brown and Campbell.

The police have theorised that it was a contract killing.
