Stoning at set-up
published: Tuesday | May 22, 2007

The Editor, Sir:

I wish to express my utter disgust at those personswho stoned Clinton Dietrich's business place on Ward Avenue, Mandeville, during the set-up on Friday, the night before his funeral.

That persons should first show such contempt for those who had gathered to pay their respects for this great man, to say nothing of the fact that some persons were hurt escaping the stoning, shows the kind of violent, underhanded, small-minded thinking that has suddenly reared its ugly head in this constituency.

I am appealing to those who have influence over these petty-minded people to rein them in because there could have been a very ugly ending that night.

As the election draws nearer, everyone must understand that this is a free country and that people are permitted to think and to vote the way in which they want and that this kind of behaviour is totally unacceptable.

I am, etc.,

SALLY PORTEOUS

Mandeville
