Skibo top B League
published: Tuesday | May 22, 2007

Skibo B won the Jamaica Netball Association (JNA) Western Union Division B League following comfortable 35-23 victory over Jetsetter B at the Leila Robinson Courts on Sunday.

Skibo also collected the winning cheque of $65,000 for their efforts.

In the third place play-off Eden Strikers defeated Ocho Rios Magics 34-27.

Wayne Stewart, coach of Skibo, said: "We played a tactical game and it worked in our favour. Jetsetters have a very tall goal shooter, but she wasn't playing so we took advantage of that.

"It was like a dream come true for me because this is a victory that I am going to cherish for life."

Skibo dominated the game from the opening whistle and led 19-9 at half-time. Jetsetters reduced the deficit by two points in the third quarter, but still trailed badly with the score reading 27-19.

However, Skibo, led by the league's leading goal shooter Shasha Lee Wallen (22 from 26 attempts) kept up their strong play in the fourth period to coast home. Wallen received good support from Kera Christie, who scored 15 goals from 18 tries.

Winette Henry, 19 goals from 25, and Latoya Gittens, two from six, were the top scorers for Jetsetters.
