Twenty-three-year-old Chevanese Yolanda Campbell, English language and communication lecturer at Knox Community College, is Miss Clarendon Festival Queen 2007.

Intermittent showers were not enough to stop the scores of family and friends who came out to support the 14 contestants who were vying for the title on the lawns of Hotel Versailles in May Pen, recently.

Each contestant proudly represented their respective sponsors prior to their participation in the introduction and talent segments.

Twenty-two-year-old Tamoya Irving, an accounting lecturer, used her skills as a designer to mesmerise the audience. Irving used three pieces of black, green and gold fabric, to create a stunning outfit dubbed 'Wi Culture' and walked away with the prize for Best Performance.

The question and answer section left the audience puzzled as to who would walk away with the crown as the top seven ladies consisting largely of teachers responded well to the questions asked by compere Jennifer 'Jenny Jenny' Small, a former festival queen.

The decision of the judges was met with thunderous applause when Campbell, whose philosophy is "Those who have been blessed with the soaring swiftness of eagles and have flown before, let them go, I will travel slowly and I too will arrive", received the prize for Most Culturally Aware and the Crown. First runner-up was 23-year-old sales and marketing representative Lasaudra Whorrie and second runner-up was 18-year-old sixth form Glenmuir High student Shadae Wilson.
