SEBA UNITED severely blunted Violet Kicker's bid to re-establish themselves as a top-flight team when they handed them a crushing 9-0 defeat in their St. James/Western Sports Champions Knockout semi-final fixture at Irwin High School on Tuesday afternoon.
By virtue of their win, Seba, who got their goals through Jermie Bucknor (three), Delroy Ellis (two), Mario Samuels, Norman Foster, Delroy McLeod and Calvert Louden, have earned the right to meet ACS in the competition's final.
ACS secured their place in the final on Monday when they outscored Seba Youths 4-3 on penalties after the teams had battled to 1-1 regulation and extra-time scoreline in their semi-final clash.
"Today was a day when we went out there and really enjoyed ourselves," said Ellis, who was obviously pleased with the ruthless manner in which Seba United disposed of Violet Kickers. "Goals build confidence so we are a very confident going into the upcoming final against ACS."
Wasted chances
After creating and wasting numerous early chances, Seba United finally took the lead in the 30th minute when Bucknor dribbled down the right side and, from a difficult angle, fired home a powerful volley, making the score 1-0.
In the 32nd minute, Ellis made it 2-0 when he pounced on a cross from Foster and side-footed out of the reach of the goalkeeper. A minute later Bucknor was back on target, bringing up his brace with a powerful header, making the halftime score 3-0.
Six minutes into the second half, Samuels began to open the floodgates when he flicked home a cross from Bucknor, making the score 4-0.
Nine minutes later, Bucknor completed his hat-trick, booting home from a blunder by goalkeeper Bancroft Haughton, making the score 5-0.
Violet Kickers' embarrassment got worst in the 62nd minute when an Ellis pin-point header crashed into the roof of the net for 6-0.Foster made it 7-0 four minutes later when he outsped the defence and scored.
With time running out in the game, Seba introduced substitutes McLeod and Louden and within minutes, they too joined the goal-spree with well-taken goals.
In the 73rd minute, McLeod dribbled through the Violet Kickers' defence and slotted wide of the goalkeeper, making it 8-0 while Louden closed the show in the 82nd minute, firing in a rebound for the final scoreline.
