Harmony, Duanvale in Trelawny showdown
published: Friday | May 25, 2007

Richard Morais, Gleaner Writer

FALMOUTH, Trelawny:

HARMONY AND Duanvale will contest the finals of the National Rums of Jamaica Trelawny Major League competition with the first leg of the two-way final to be played on Sunday at the Elleston Wakeland Centre in Falmouth at 3:30 p.m.

Harmony qualified by getting by Preston on a 6-4 on aggregate, including the penalty tiebreaker. After a 2-2 aggregate score after their two games with Preston taking the first 2-0 and Harmony returning the favour in the second, the game went into the decisive penalty stalemate after extra time could not force a decision.

Duanvale were more decisive in their qualification over Upsetters as while they drew the first game 0-0, they came away 2-1 victors in the second leg.

More united

Having been in the final seven times in the past 10 years but never making the winners' enclosure, Duanvale's manager, Rawle Gentles, said: "This year we feel we can take it as the team is more united than ever and we are going to remain positive." He also said they would be at full strength for the encounter.

Harmony's manager, Garnet Rodney, did not mince words.

"We are going to win," he said. Rodney said his side was superior as it had been a former Premier League team and also a regular fixture in the Western Confederation. However, Rodney said that while the side had no major injuries, there were 'card problems'.

About four starters will not play and he said his team would be going all out for an early goal. If that did not happen, then, he said, Harmony would just try to contain their opponents until the second game when they would be back to full strength.
