Young, beautifuL and talented, Pulse model Gaye McDonald has began to see her dreams come true. In only one day McDonald found herself booked for Cosmopolitan magazine.

The hugely popular fashion magazine has seen the world's top models and celebrities grace its pages. At only 18 McDonald, who is from Greater Portmore, St. Catherine, has marked her place on the international market.

Gaye made herself known to the public in 2005 when she won Pulse's Caribbean Model Search. However, she did not think she would have won. "I entered the competition because people told me I have th and build. My sister told me to enter. I'm glad they chose me as one of the best girls," she said.

McDonald is currently in her last year at Portmore Community College, but plans to pursue her modelling career full-time. "Right now modelling is in front of everything else. I won't be young forever, so I'm doing it while I'm still young," she told The Sunday Gleaner.

LOVED HER LOOK

On arriving in New York to do interviews with various magazines Cosmopolitan approached the model to take some Polaroid pictures, a representative telling her they loved her look, skin and body.

To crown her success, a few days later Gaye was booked to the New York Times Sunday Fashion magazine. Gaye's previous work included appearing on last month's cover of Luire, one of Japan's top magazines.

Although Gaye attests that the modelling world is difficult, she is enjoying the process. To assist her along her career road is agency Next, which recently signed Pulse supermodel Nell Robinson for New York representation, and has the pleasure of representing this new star.

It took Gaye more than a year after winning the Caribbean Model Search to get started internationally, despite fierce interest by many agencies. This time was spent focusing on school.

While concentrating on her studies Gaye continued working with designers such as Keneea Linton, and shooting editorials for St. Lucia's She magazine, ensuring that she maintained a presence in the region's fashion industry.

Gaye has began her career at the top and hopes to achieve much more. Taking time out of her already booming international career, Gaye will once again appear at Caribbean Fashionweek June 6-10.
