Tasteless TVJ programming
published: Sunday | May 27, 2007

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I am absolutely disgusted with Television Jamaica's (TVJ) abysmal programming standards in recent times. Viewers continue to be bombarded by expletive-riddled movies on what is supposed to be a network station.

The most recent example is that of Thursday night, May 22, during TVJ's showing of Blind Faith, which was peppered with F-words. Where is TVJ's pride? Where is its ever-smiling general manager Kay Osborne when there is obviously a breakdown in programming standards?

But of greater importance is the slumbering, lumbering Broadcasting Commission which sets up rules and regulations but does absolutely nothing to enforce them.

Local television needs stringent standards. CVM has also shown a lack of class in broadcasting expletives. Broadcasting Commission, act now, or lock up shop!

I am, etc.,

A. A. WRIGHT

Kingston
