published: Friday | June 1, 2007

LETTER OF THE DAY: Well said, Rev Dick... Test the spirit to detect true from false prophet
The Editor, Sir:I could not hold my view after reading the Rev. Dick's article in The Gleaner of May 29, entitled 'Benny Hinn and that spirit'.

Role of the Queen in Jamaica

THE EDITOR, I write to protest the Rev. Devon Dick's article in Tuesday's Gleaner (May 22, 2007) headlined 'Britain still rules Jamaica'.

IF in religion

THE EDITOR, Sir, There are two words often used in religion and the first two letters when combined form the word IF.If we were less Intolerant of other people's religion, the Earth would be more peaceful.

On Chávez and the media

THE EDITOR, Sir: I would like to comment on a letter titled, 'Why the silence on Chávez?', which appeared in your newspaper on May 30. The writer was stating that since Venezuela is a trading partner, the Jamaican government should express its position on Mr. Chávez' domestic and foreign policy.

Confusion over land tax

THE EDITOR, Sir: There is unnecessary confusion over land tax derating for agriculture. The Land Tax Relief Board does not appear to operate on the most efficient of bases.
