A really bad (Jamaican) road
published: Saturday | June 2, 2007

The Editor, Sir:

There are a number of bad roads in Jamaica, but few could be worse than the one in Johns Hall, Clarendon. This road links Silver Spring in the south, through McKoy to Aenon Town in the north.

Just to get to the interior of the Johns Hall district is an ordeal. The road is practically non-existent.

No alternative route

The area is totally agricultural with n route for entry and exit. It's almost impossible to get to the markets with the local produce. The main road from Frankfield to Corner Shop is also in a deplorable state.

The MP for the area is the Horace Dalley, whom I personally wrote to over two years ago with a copy to the then Prime Minister, P.J. Patterson, from whom I got a reply but, to date, the local MP has not responded.

With a general election on the horizon, I wonder if Mr. Dalley will visit the area. If so, I suggest he travels by helicopter, as there is no road for the average method of transport. The area has been totally neglected by the Clarendon Local Authority, its councillors and Member of Parliament.

The voters will speak at the next elections.

I am, etc.,
