The following message was sent from Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller of Jamaica on the occasion of the opening of the Michael Lee Chin Crystal at the Royal Ontario Museum:

"I extend sincere and heartiest congratulations to the Royal Ontario Museum on the occasion of the opening of the Michael Lee Chin Crystal, the dramatic new wing to Canada's largest museum of natural history.

This significant honour bestowed on our fellow Jamaican is testi-mony to the museum's noted acclaim for embracing "world cultures".

Like you, all of us in Jamaica have been inspired by Michael Lee Chin's entrepreneurial vision, outstanding business achievements and philanthropic spirit, and readily attest to his commitment to the arts and the advancement of culture and education.

On behalf of the Government and people of Jamaica, I salute the Royal Ontario Museum and our outstanding 'son of the soil' on this magnificent milestone.

The Michael Lee Chin Crystal is a fitting renaissance symbol and treasured endowment to natural history and world culture, which will be enjoyed by present and future generations.
