Road plea to Peart
published: Saturday | June 2, 2007

The Editor, Sir:

Last year Septemberm a group of residents visited the office of Local Government Minister, Hon. Dean Peart, seeking assistance to repair Faith Home Road in Golden Spring, West Rural St. Andrew.

He allocated $5 million to carry out the repairs and sent us to the National Works Agency to meet with works supervisor Mr.s Litch-more, since the money was already in the custody of the NWA.

Four months later, in January of 2007, the minister's personal assistant called to say "Minister advises that the $5M is reallocated and that our road would be put on a programme".

The residents feel betrayed and even with the minister's own invitation for us to get in touch with him, our efforts to do so have failed over and over.

The citizens are facing Lucifer's hell with the bad road condition, so we implore Minister Peart to do the right thing.

I am, etc.,

DERRICK SIMON
