Samaritans on highway
published: Monday | June 4, 2007

The Editor, Sir:

It's with grateful heart I use this medium to express my appreciation to the Jamieson family and Mr. Gordon (a member of the highway emergency patrol response team) for the help given on the highway on May 23.

I was coming from a Bible conference with my wife and three other brethren when the car picked up a punctured tyre. When we checked the spare, it was unable to line up with the lugs. The Jamieson family and Mr. Gordon were quick on the scene and all efforts were made to ensure that the tyre was taken to Spanish Town, fixed, collected and, in record time, we were on our way.

It shows that there are still good Samaritans around in 2007. I must also highlight the professionalism displayed by Mr. Gordon. In this day and age, I offered him a little incentive to buy himself a drink (due to his kindness). To my amazement, he refused it, saying 'I was just doing my job'. Hats off to you Mr. Gordon. Keep up the good work. God bless you.

I am, etc.,
