Hydel sweep Champs

HYDEL SWEPT all before them at the Inter-Prep School Track & Field Championships which ended at the National Stadium on Saturday.

The champions tallied 307.5 points overall which was 134 clear of arch-rivals Vaz, who finished second with 173.5 points and Our Lady of the Angels (138).

Hydel topped the female section with 143 ahead of Our Lady of the Angels (80), Mavisville (63), Vaz (60), St. Andrew (42.5), Belair (41), Ardenne (40), St. Catherine (29), Stella Maris (25) and Holy Childhood (25).

The Mandela Highway-based school took the male section with 164.5 ahead of Vaz (113.5), Our Lady of the Angels (58), Lannaman's (51), Stella Maris (37), Ardenne (33), Meadowbrook (30), Portmore Missionary (28), St. Peter & Paul (26) and Calvary (23).

Samara Spencer of Hydel set two records. She took the high jump Class Two witha record leap of 1.43m, beating the 10-year-old mark of 1.42m, and jumped 4.56m to win the long jump. The previous mark was 4.19m.

Dillion Bryan of Stella Maris took the boys' Class One sprint double. He won the 100m in 12.72 seconds and 200m in 25.39.

Romario Clarke of Hydel took the Class Two sprint double. He won the 100m in 14.04 and 150m in 20.87.

Shanice Ellis of Hydel won the Class Three girls' 50m event in 7.89, while Natasha Patterson of Hydel took the Class One 300m in 44.44.
