Two ABC ('OLTL' and 'AMC') soap stars off the market
published: Saturday | June 9, 2007

James Reynolds

Congratulations to two daytime actors who have made it official. Kamar de los Reyes wed former One Life to Live co-star Sherri Saum on May 19. The actor plays Antonio on OLTL, and Saum was Keri Reynolds on the soap from 2001 to 2003. She also is best known as Vanessa Hart on the cancelled daytime soap Sunset Beach, and most recently had a recurring role as Natalie on the critically acclaimed FX network drama Rescue Me.

Wedding bells also recently chimed for All My Children star Jacob Young, who plays JR. The actor married Christen Steward on May 13 in a ceremony in New Jersey, where many of his co-stars were in attendance.

Two soap stars have recently undergone surgery but are expected to make a full recovery. Rick Hearst (Ric, General Hospital) had a surgical procedure performed on his throat. While taking two weeks off to recover, he shared these thoughts with fans on his ABC.com blog: "As I write this, I am currently on a two-week leave from GH due to a throat condition that required surgery. All is well, but writing is my only immediate form of communication other than jumping up and down and waving my arms. I can't wait to get back to the gray hallows of the PCPD to shuffle the files, get in Jason's face, argue with the mayor, share an interlude with Skye and speak the names of Jerry Jax and James Craig all in one sentence again. As long as I hold all the cards, it's all good."

Also recuperating is James Reynolds (Abe, Days of Our Lives), who underwent heart valve surgery for a common congenital condition. He will be off for six weeks and had to cancel his hosting duties for the Days annual celebrity basketball game on June 1. However, his son Jed, who recently played a police officer on the soap, was there in his place.

Speaking of Days fan events, the Taylors Youth Association is presenting the first annual Days Into Night celebrity charity event. This is the same group who created Celebrity Softball, a 20-year tradition in Greenville, S.C. The new tradition will also take place in Greenville and promises to be a blast, starting out on Friday, August 3, with a karaoke party. The following day, Saturday, features a cast party, auction, autograph session and concludes with a dance party that evening. Scheduled to appear are Bryan Dattilo (Lucas), Martha Madison (Belle), Rachel Melvin (Chelsea), Blake Berris (Nick) and Darin Brooks (Max).

The Bold and the Beautiful has received an International TV Audience Award nomination by the Monte Carlo TV Festival and Eurodata TV Worldwide. The soap won the award in 2006. The nominees are among the 10 best-performing imported fiction programmes in 47 countries, representing approximately 2.4 billion viewers.
