The Editor Sir:The people of South East St. Ann, accustomed to being represented by their home-grown and -bred parliamentary representatives, must have thought they were listening to the start of a selection process for a SE St. Ann beauty pageant.
It was not - they were now given a beauty queen as their candidate for the political experience as a representative is even a part of the big 'dis' for the self-respecting and proud people of SE St. Ann with many beautiful women around.
This selection the PNP hopes will not go down in history as a most misguided idea which may augur well for the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) on election day.
This constituency voting for the PNP overwhelmingly in most elections, is no garrison, and these independent people have a mind of their own. They vote PNP by choice, not coercion.
Every seat for the PNP is going to be critical and Sista P has already warned SE St.Ann about the impending wrath of the Jamaican people if because of internal rivalry and intransigence the seat goes to the JLP. In a close election according to the pollsters, this safe seat is critical.
SE St. Ann may as well put their egos aside and say to queen Lisa, 'Welcome home, Comrade Hanna', and move on to better things.
The endorsement of her by former Prime Minister and political mastermind P.J. Patterson must be seen as a very important message to all Comrades concerned to bury the hatchet and saddle up for the all important race.
I am, etc.,
