The Editor Sir:I am firmly of the opinion or 'hope' that come next week the Lisa Hanna thing will be revealed to have been a dream. But when I hear the comments of P.J. Patterson, someone I admire and respect, endorsing her candidacy, I am less certain that it is a dream.
It has always been known that politics is the 'art of the possible', but is it really possible that the PNP will pull out all stops to place Lisa Hanna in Parliament?
If so will they answer the following questions:
What does Lisa Hanna know of representing a rural constituency that Aloun Assamba did not figure out?
If Lisa Hanna could not successfully read news on TVJ (or Super Supreme TV), how can she survive a challenging real-world role as a legislator?
Apart from smiling and waving at cocktail parties, what else is she able to do that politicians have to do on a daily basis?
Since the uptown Kingston rumour mills are suggesting that she is also the next tourism minister (a rumour confirmed by some within the PNP), what are her qualifications especially when compared to Maxine Henry-Wilson, Portia Simpson Miller, Beverley Anderson Manley, Aloun Assamba, Heather Robinson, Sharon Hay-Webster, Maureen Webber and the other intelligent women that we are used to from the PNP. What has gone wrong?
I am, etc.,
