HOLLAND POLICE Youth Club take a one-goal advantage over Black River United into the second-leg final of the St. Elizabeth Wray and Nephew Major League competition at Appleton Estates, tomorrow. Kick-off time is at 3:00 p.m.
In the first-leg final played at the St. Elizabeth Technical sports complex in Santa Cruz last Sunday, Sadic Spencer gave the mid-season champions the 1-0 advantage by scoring in the 34th minute.
Holland's coach, Orlando Campbell, is confident his side will be crowned champions again tomorrow.
"We were quite comfortable with the 1-0 win but come Sunday, our key striker, Edroy Barrett, who got a one-match suspension, will be back and he will finish the work for us," Campbell said.
Coach of Black River, Clive Thompson, who has been with the team for more than 40 years as a player and coach, is also confident that his team can come back strong in the second leg.
"We didn't have a good game and indiscipline got the better of the players. But it is just a small lead and we will come better," Thompson said.
Holland, the 2004 champions and former giant-killers who were runners-up in the first season of the Jamaica Football Federation's Red Stripe beach football competition, reached the final after beating Appleton 3-2 on aggregate while Black River, the four-time champions of the Division One competition, got by STETHS 3-1 on aggregate.
The winners of this year's competition will walk away with $121,000, along with the Wray and Nephew Trophy, while the runners-up will take home $80,000.
