PetroCaribe loans top $18 billion
published: Monday | June 11, 2007

Venezuela has now lent Jamaica more than $18 billion under the PetroCaribe oil supply agreement.

Energy Minister Phillip Paulwell made the announcement in Parliament last week.

Under the PetroCaribe agreement, Jamaica can import 23,500 barrels of oil daily from Venezuela at the full price.

Forty per cent of the price is deferred as loans, charged at one per cent interest.
