Friday night's show was one in a series of those being held during Pulse's Caribbean Fashionweek (CFW), and indeed it showcased the work of some of the most creative designers in the region.

The designs featured that night included Antonio Cumberbatch's Posh Punk, Minka, Bobby and the UB5 Collection, KAJ, Poshe, The Calvin Southwell collection, among others. It should also be noted, tha the production ended close to midnight, there were no unusually long breaks: when Kingsley Cooper, chairman of Pulse, made the announcement between each segment that there would be a 10-minute break, he meant just that.

The Posh Punk line was fit for those who are looking for a taste of young Hollywood. It featured a host of faux furs, lots of miniskirts and Cumberbatch made use of lots of colours and large gold jewellery. But ironically, he ended up stealing the show from the clothes when he strutted the runway - literally. He leaned back and made use of long strides, while doing an obvious 'tick' for each strut. He aroused a round of applause and laughter.

The Sean Griffiths clothing line was colourful and sexy though he made use of lots of loose flowing cotton.

This year, Minka, who is usually found showcasing her clothes on Saint International's Style Week Jamaica, made her debut at CFW. The designer, usually known for her exceptional crochet pieces, also showcased male pyjamas with vibrant African prints. Minka's pieces ranged from sexy crochet swimwear - such as a red, green and gold one piece worn by top model, Nadine Willis - to the more roots, yet glamorous clothing, for a night on the town.

St. Lucia's 'Kumba' showed range: showcasing semi-formal white, airy cotton pieces, then switching to psychedelic blue suits, then dark blue/grey suits that paid ode to the early '90s; well, it's either that, or Star Trek. The jackets boasted oversized shoulder pads while the suit tapered inward, creating a 'V'-like shape. For the most part, the line showed creativity.

Also showing that they are thinking outside of the box, were K Bobby and UB5 with a dress made of colourful neckties; Lamaica's exploration of the Bohemian with subtle-coloured flare skirts to the ancient, with tops sporting huge ballooned sleeves, reminiscent of the Elizabethan era.

Also leaving an impression was Antigua's premier designer, Calvin Southwell, with his white cottons, periwinkle chiffons and white laced male shirts.
